Biophilia: Pittsburgh August Meeting – Sustainability, One Plate at a Time

The Thurs., Aug 3 Biophilia: Pittsburgh meeting will feature Rebecca Byoski, the program manager of Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurants, who will lead the discussion, “Sustainability, One Plate at a Time.” Her presentation will cover how restaurant sustainability improves the connection between people and the parts of the living world that provide nourishment. Phipps Display Horticulturist Mike Bechtel will also join the meeting to discuss Phipps’ hydroponic vegetable growing system.

Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurants is a sustainability performance program providing recognition for leading restaurants in southwestern Pennsylvania. With its unique development of actions aimed at integrating economic, environmental, and social equity factors, the program’s designation enables restaurateurs to see the lasting value in operating in socially and environmentally responsible ways, while saving money and increasing business.
