Design the Future – John Thackara

The next economy is about meeting daily life needs in ways that enhance, rather than degrade, social and ecological assets. This “leave things better” approach involves ecosystem restoration – and not just in the countryside; the relationships between cities – and the resources that feed them – is central. New urban-rural relationships are part of this metabolic re-connection. So, too, is focus on systems thinking in design and learning in new ways, with new people, and in new places.
