SUMMARY:First Peoples Past & Present: Native Health and Voting Power
DESCRIPTION:Pittsburgh is known as a city with a rich colonial past\, but the Native American perspective is often lost in the retelling of this history. Beginning with a panel presentation speaking to the current health crisis’ effects on Native communities and the resiliency of Native people\, this series will go on to examine topics like the intersection of Black and Native histories and genealogies.. \nFirst Peoples Past & Present: Native Health and Voting Power\nWednesday\, January 27\, Noon – 1:30 p.m.\nRegistration: RSVP form \nPanelists: \n\nGregory Evans Dowd\, PhD – Professor of History and American Culture\, University of Michigan\nKimberly R. Huyser\, PhD – Associate Professor of Sociology\, University of British Columbia.\n\nModerators: \n\nAlaina E. Roberts\, PhD – Assistant Professor of History\, University of Pittsburgh\nMario C.
