DESCRIPTION:Energy Exchange remains one of the best opportunities for agencies to ensure their workforce understands leadership direction\, priorities\, goals\, and strategies. It’s also a unique opportunity to fulfill training mandates in alignment with legislative and administration workforce development objectives. The event provides a place to network with energy and water professionals leading to development and implementation solutions that can make the federal government a leader in the transition to a clean energy economy. \n\n\n\nSustainable Pittsburgh’s executive director\, Joylette Portlock\, Ph.D.\, along with other esteemed speakers will outline the critical role the federal government can play in making the American energy economy more equitable and climate-resilient. \n\n\n\nThe Energy Exchange Paves the Way to Environmental Justice! \n\n\n\nFor decades\, low-income and disadvantaged communities have carried more than their fair share of energy costs. Crumbling infrastructures\, contaminated water\, excess pollution\, and higher energy prices are all exaggerated in these communities. In his first week in office\, President Biden issued Executive Order 14008 establishing a goal that 40% of the overall benefits of certain Federal investments flow to disadvantaged communities. It’s called the Justice40 Initiative.
