SUMMARY:Race + Justice: Pittsburgh
DESCRIPTION:When it comes to criminal justice reform\, Pittsburgh is at a crossroads.\nOn one hand\, crime rates are falling and local leaders have made strides toward a fairer and more equitable criminal justice system. \nAnd yet\, incarceration numbers are still high\, especially for black men. In March\, protesters flooded the streets after a white police officer was acquitted in the killing of Antwon Rose Jr.\, an African American teenager\, in East Pittsburgh. \nWhat comes next for criminal justice in Pittsburgh? In this morning summit\, The Atlantic will talk with community leaders\, criminal justice experts\, and public officials about Pittsburgh’s criminal justice system. We will discuss the city’s reaction to the Rose killing\, as well as the massacre last fall at the Tree of Life Synagogue. And we will discuss what a better system would look like.

SUMMARY:SCDN WEBINAR - Leveraging Watershed Groups to Improve Water Quality and Support Your MS4 Program
DESCRIPTION:Improving water quality\, managing storm-water\, and adapting to a changing climate are some of the most difficult challenges faced by municipal leaders in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Effectively-led watershed groups are an excellent community resource for municipalities seeking to mitigate those issues and comply with their MS4 requirements. Watershed groups come in many different sizes and structures\, from all volunteer-led organizations to professionally run 501(c)3 nonprofits. While their capacities may differ\, working together with municipal leaders\, all watershed groups can have positive community impacts. \nPlease join us for a Webinar on Tuesday\, June 18\, 2019 at 1:00 pm to learn how the Allegheny Watershed Alliance\, a program of the Allegheny County Conservation District\, works with local watershed groups and municipal leadership to improve collaborative outcomes.
