Mr. DeGori had a long career as an executive chef in hotels before moving into the field of health care nutrition in 2001.
“I’ve done a lot over 30 years, but working with these kids has been above all else,” he said.
“Really. We’ve trained them in everything from cooking skills and sanitation to organization and teamwork. It’s been wonderful.”
Mr. Nareedokmai said he had never done anything like this and “has had such a good experience.”
The nonprofit Sustainable Pittsburgh recruited the chefs from its sustainable restaurants program.
