Environmental groups seek more time to review Shell Falcon pipeline impact
“According to the petition cover letter by PennFuture president and chief executive officer Jacquelyn Bonomo, the cracker plant ‘sets the stage for southwestern Pennsylvania to become the country’s newest Cancer Alley,’ and subject to the same emissions of toxins and cancer-causing chemicals ‘devastating public health and the environment in Louisiana and New Jersey.’
“The letter demands that Shell be required to install the best available control technologies, use best operational practices to limit emissions, and establish a citizens air and water pollution monitoring committee to oversee cracker plant operations. It also asks state and local officials to ‘Say no to more petrochemical plants.'”
