The Southwest PA Environmental Health Project urges you to sign a petition to #StandUpforScience:
“A new CDC Director means new public health priorities. With the change in leadership and major potential budget cuts, here’s our chance to support sound science. In one week, we will send a list of signatures to CDC director Brenda Fitzgerald to tell her we need science that studies the health impacts of fracking. Fracking uses chemicals and compounds known to put people at risk and to cause real harm. But scientists lack the critical health data from affected areas that they need to study fracking and protect communities.
“Tell the CDC that we cannot rely on the oil and gas industry to “study” itself. Even with budget cuts, we need the open, honest and reliable information the National Fracking Health Risk Registry will provide.
“Now is our final chance to add as many signatures as possible to this petition to fund a National Fracking Health Risk Registry so that researchers will be able to get the vital information they need to truly understand the public health impacts of fracking oil and gas development and transport.”
