Proposed Cuts to EPA Budget Would Be “Immediate and Devastating”
The Trump administration’s final budget request includes a 31% reduction in funding to the Environmental Protection Agency. Cuts would be applied to both EPA programs and to grants given to states for them to run their own programs. Two recent articles do spell out the potential damage (from StateImpact and from The Philadelphia Inquirer).
GASP looked at what the cuts could mean to Southwestern Pennsylvania and Allegheny County specifically. (While our article refers to Trump’s initial budget proposal, which differs slightly from his final one, most if not all of the cuts remain the same or will be worse.) Our blog post ends with a call to action, so if these cuts bother you, please join us in speaking out!
