Submit comments to DEP for more protective water quality standards
A message from Conservation Voters of PA:
“Pennsylvania has some of the most polluted waters in the country, and that’s in part because several dangerous chemicals aren’t considered “toxic” by the state — which means polluters have gotten a free pass to dump substances that will make us sick.
The standards that are used to assess whether our rivers, lakes, and streams are pure enough for drinking, swimming, and fishing are the foundation for water protection throughout our state, and fortunately, they’re up for review this year.
Public officials are seeking public input on these standards to better ensure that Pennsylvania’s waterways are clean and free from dangerous bacteria like E.coli and other toxic pollutants. This is our chance to ask for the strictest protections possible.
We have until February 16 to submit comments to the PA Department of Environmental Protection calling for more protective water quality standards. Please, speak up for clean water and urge your public officials to adopt the strongest assessments and protections for our rivers and streams as possible.”
