Interested in giving back, while developing leadership and mentoring skills?
Duquesne University School of Business is looking for volunteer mentors to work with freshman in its First Year Innovation Experience Class this fall semester. The class is designed to give the students real-world experience as consultants on a project.
As a mentor, your goal would be to keep a team of 5-7 students on track for meeting deliverables; guide them to work as a team; and coach them on developing ideas that are feasible/realistic. Winning teams will receive scholarship monies. Last year, the school granted $12,000 to the top 5 teams.
This year, the teams will be challenged to develop an idea for “Reclamation of an assigned vacant/under-utilized building within the Uptown Eco-Innovation District.”
- Strong business and/or project management skills
- Ability to commit to meeting every week on campus from week of September 2 – week of November 18, for 50 minutes during one of these lab times:
Wednesdays at Noon, 1 pm, 2 pm, or 3 pm
Fridays at 8 am, 9 am, Noon, 1 pm, 2 pm or 3 pm
and possibly a few sessions outside the scheduled labs, if required to support the team’s proposed property upgrades.
