I Am Sustainable Pittsburgh has reached 1,087 participants and the number continues to grow!
This 3-week competition encourages and rewards individuals for taking sustainable actions that benefit the health and greater good of the Pittsburgh community. Through I Am Sustainable Pittsburgh, we can achieve big things, together.
Among the ten sustainability focus areas featured, the Waste section has seen the highest level of engagement. There are 735 participants who have committed to taking actions that include avoiding disposables, composting food waste, and choosing two sided printing. Food and Health are the next most popular areas, with actions including eating meatless meals, planning meals for the week, getting a health checkup, and taking an audit of toxic cleaning products in the home. All of these actions contribute to a more sustainable Pittsburgh region! You can track the impact here.
The competition ends March 20, but there is still time to join in and help make a difference. Two dozen local businesses and cultural institutions are supporting this inaugural event with donations of prizes. Sustainable Pittsburgh is hosting multiple opportunities to win these prizes, which includes an overnight test drive of a Tesla; dinner for two, theater tickets and a hotel stay in downtown Pittsburgh; Patagonia gear, and more!
