What do you like best about your job?
I love the mission-driven nature of my job and getting to work with people in their communities on making that mission a reality. Pittsburgh has so many unique and wonderful neighborhoods, and through my job I get to connect with so many different people on a common goal: to create a healthier, happier, and better city for us all.
What is a trend of note regarding mobility that gives you optimism in your work?
More and more people are thinking outside of the personal car and seeking out alternative ways to get from point A to point B. Healthy Ride is seeing more rides than ever before and the system has more than doubled in size, and we’re not done growing yet. It’s an exciting time to be doing this work. You don’t have to be a “bike person” to ride a bike, and bike share is proof of that. Most of our riders don’t identify as “cyclists,” they’re just looking for the fastest, healthiest, most sustainable way to get where they’re going.
[Editor’s Note: Healthy Ride bike share is a Platinum sponsor of I Am Sustainable Pittsburgh.]
