Social Equity

1400+ social equity actions taken

“Equity means fairness in process, access, and outcomes.”

Equity in Action, March 2020

Social equity takes place when everyone has the opportunity to engage, prosper, and reach their full personal and professional potential.

In southwestern Pennsylvania, we see uneven opportunity and health outcomes across race and gender, poor air quality, geography (urban/rural), and the need for an inclusive transition to clean energy.

There isn’t a sustainability conversation that happens without social equity. From workforce development to lower carbon transportation, community engagement, waste reduction and circularity. Social equity needs to be centered in all of these conversations.

Equity is a fundamental thread that is evident in all of our work.
