8th Annual Sustainability Conference: "Resilient Infrastructure in the Age of Climate Change"

• Duane Verner, Program Manager, Risk and Infrastructure Science Center, Global Security Sciences Division, Argonne National Laboratory: “Using Climate Data to Inform Critical Infrastructure Resilience and Urban Sustainability Decision-making”

Featured Speakers:
• Grant Ervin, Chief Resiliency Officer, City of Pittsburgh: “The Path Forward in the City of Pittsburgh – City Resilience Assessments, Transportation via Complete Streets, and Resilient Stormwater Management”
• Costa Samaras, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Carnegie Mellon University: “Adapting Infrastructure and Civil Engineering Practice to a Changing Climate, American Society of Civil Engineers – Committee on Climate”
• Andre Struker, Strategic Advisor, Waternet: “Waste to Energy Strategies and Reducing GHG Emissions – An International Case Study”

Sustainable Pittsburgh’s Champions for Sustainability (C4S) once again joins the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Pittsburgh Section and the Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI) Pittsburgh Chapter for a full-day event on developing real and tangible infrastructure protection strategies against the impacts of climate change while finding new and innovative ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Join us for this year’s conference where we will showcase various strategies, tools, and real-world case studies for creating resilient infrastructure and communities for a changing climate. In addition to frontline keynote speaker presentations, the event features afternoon breakout discussion sessions on climate change and resiliency topics.

This year’s event is in partnership with the City of Pittsburgh, The German Marshall Fund of the United States, and the American Public Works Administration (APWA) Western Pennsylvania Chapter.
