A Sustainable Development Academy program presented by the Local Government Academy and Sustainable Pittsburgh’s Sustainable Community Development Network
This webinar, presented for local government leaders in Southwestern PA, introduces participants to an innovative means for assisting community stakeholders in accessing funds for small projects driven by community interests.
An important part of managing a high performing municipality is successfully interacting with and incorporating the needs and desires of constituents while respecting the fiscal constraints of administration. The nonprofit “ioby” connects ideas with resources to activate positive change in local communities in part by using crowdfunding to drive projects to success. Crowdfunding pools small online donations from individuals for a cause or a project.
Providing motivated community members with new means to self-fund projects is a win-win for meeting local enthusiasm, empowering activity, and implementing new initiatives.
Take part in this webinar to learn how ioby helps municipalities around the country use crowdfunding tools to advance sustainability goals. ioby’s David Weinberger will introduce the art of crowdfunding and review best municipal practices in crowdfunding to seed resident-led initiatives.
This webinar is best suited for municipalities that are developing or evaluating their community engagement strategies. Time will be spent discussing the impacts of city/municipal-led crowdfunding programs regarding community ownership of sustainability initiatives and capital projects.
