Sustainable PGH Restaurants team up to feed hungry families

February 23, 2017 by Ginette Walker Vinski

Participating Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurants are partnering with Wigle Whiskey and 412 Food Rescue to host Libations for Donations, special happy hours designed to raise money to help prepare hot, fresh, healthy meals for local Pittsburghers in need.

The next Libations for Donations is Thursday, March 2 from 5:30pm – 7:30pm at Franktuary in Lawrenceville, a Gold Plate Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurant.

Libations for Donations happy hours feature tasty bites, free samples of Wigle Whiskey products, and a featured specialty cocktail. For each specialty cocktail purchased, host restaurants will remit $1 toward preparation of meals for communities in need.

According to the USDA it takes $245.70 (moderate cost) to feed a family of four well and nutritiously for one week. With 21 meals per week, that’s about $12 for a meal for four on average.  Libations for Donations aims to feed 133 people a hot, fresh, healthy meal and to make that happen at least $400 needs to be raised.  Join Sustainable Pittsburgh and partners to have a sip and a snack, and be part of something great!
