Rising costs for housing, utilities, food, transportation, child care, and other necessities are limiting households’ ability to benefit from healthier, more efficient, and more sustainable communities. Join Sustainable Pittsburgh for the upcoming Policy Connection webinar, The Affordability Crisis is a Sustainability Crisis. Anchored in Section 202 of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, this webinar will explore how Pennsylvania can translate the new federal Whole-Home Repairs pilot into lower household costs, safer homes, and greater access to energy-efficiency and clean-energy improvements.

This virtual conversation will bring together a policy perspective on the federal legislation and Pennsylvania’s implementation landscape, an on-the-ground practitioner working at the intersection of housing repairs and energy improvements, and a poverty-alleviation perspective on how essential costs interact within household budgets. Speakers will examine the funding, program coordination, contractor capacity, consumer protections, and state and local actions needed to preserve affordable homes, reduce barriers to sustainability, and strengthen communities across Southwestern Pennsylvania.
