Congratulations to the Boroughs of West Chester (Chester County) and State College (Centre County) for achieving Bronze and Gold respectively in the Sustainable PA Community Certification.
“Reaching platinum certification is the ultimate goal of State College Borough. Over the next couple of months, Borough staff will work with Penn State students through the Sustainable Communities Collaborative to identify new projects and programs to help the Borough reach that goal. The Certification program challenges municipalities to put forth their best efforts and provides the impetus for municipalities to continue learning and growing their sustainability programs.” – Courtney Hayden, Communication Coordinator for the Borough of State College.
“West Chester Borough has implemented many green initiatives in the past and we are currently working on forming a Sustainability Advisory Committee and outlining a sustainability program in order to continue to implement new programs and initiatives in our municipality. The Sustainable PA Assessment has been a great tool to benchmark our current successes and I look forward to working with the program in the future to obtain higher levels of achievement in sustainability for our community.” – Meghan Fogarty, Solid Waste & Recycling Coordinator for the Borough of West Chester
This sustainable municipality performance program launched by Sustainable Pittsburgh is now statewide in collaboration with the PA Municipal League.
