Sustainable Pittsburgh Challenge offers new opportunity for recognition through People’s Choice Award

Posted on December 7, 2018 by gvinski

It’s been a busy year for Sustainable Pittsburgh! Among several projects, the SP Challenge is charging into its final two months of competition. Strategies are in effect for participating workplaces to maximize their point-earning as they enter this home stretch.

New for this year’s Challenge, Sustainable Pittsburgh is accepting nominations for a People’s Choice Award. This inaugural award recognizes a participant for its innovating or inspiring sustainability solutions, initiatives, or actions. Etna Borough became the first nominee, in recognition for its in-depth sustainability survey that was used to access residents’ knowledge about sustainability and how often they include the principles in their daily activities. The survey results will be used to aid the planning stage of the Borough’s EcoDistricts Certification.

Learn how you can nominate an organization for the People’s Choice Award. The deadline is January 31.

Sustainable Pittsburgh will announce the winner during the finale celebration in March. During this time, SP will also unveil the sustainability impacts that the 125+ participants achieved during the course of the 13-month competition. Celebration details forthcoming!

Recently Etna Borough earned the White Ribbon in the SP Challenge’s Water category. Jessica Jankowski, Economic Development Coordinator and Assistant to the Manager of the Borough of Etna, (left) accepted the White Ribbon on behalf of the Borough. Jessica is joined by SP Challenge Analyst Hayden Sloan.
