Meredith Benek is senior manager of projects and events at Sustainable Pittsburgh, where she leads the planning and execution of mission-aligned events that advance the organization’s regional sustainability goals. She manages a variety of special projects, from stakeholder convenings to public educational programs, ensuring each initiative is strategically designed to foster collaboration and deliver meaningful results.
With more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Benek brings a blend of operational expertise, creative problem-solving and a service-oriented mindset to her sustainability work. Her understanding of the industry has fueled her commitment to curating event experiences that are both environmentally responsible and socially inclusive. She has successfully executed a wide range of in-person, hybrid and virtual events, all grounded in the principles of sustainability.
Benek holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from Slippery Rock University and a master’s degree in sustainability from Chatham University, where she focused on sustainable systems, leadership and public engagement.
