Hunger--The Gateway to Other Ills

Though we are in the midst of an economic recovery with low unemployment and nearly nonexistent inflation, and the percentage of households that are food insecure is ticking downward, the fact remains that the numbers still are higher than they were just a decade ago, with staggering economic and social impacts.

In response, the Institute of Politics is proud to partner with The Pittsburgh Foundation and Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank to invite your participation in a special symposium, Hunger–The Gateway to Other Ills.

Participants will learn from national experts, state administration, and local cross-sector leaders about the national and regional meal gap; receive an update on the Governor’s goal to greater accessibility to healthy, nutritious food; and hear more about the social and economic costs of hunger.
