Please save the date, November 8, 2016, for the third speaker in the CRSP Fall Speaker Series. CRSP is pleased to welcome Allegheny County Police Department Assistant Superintendent Maurita Bryant, as she presents “Race and Gender in the Police: Beyond the Blue Uniform.” A Q&A will follow the lecture.
Despite the challenges of starting on the force as a female African American police officer in 1970s Pittsburgh, Bryant has persistently worked to improve race and gender relations in policing for nearly four decades, while building meaningful relationships in the communities she patrolled.
Join us on November 8 as Maurita Bryant discusses encountering bias towards gender and race in policing, and the strategies she has used to confront prejudice and racism while building trust and respect.
